Bar Graph
Also called: histogram
Definition
A display in which the height of a bar shows a summary value, such as the average or total per condition, per person or per category. It is useful for comparing discrete sets and for preference-assessment results, but because it collapses sessions into one value it cannot show trend or variability.
In plain language
Bars whose height shows a total or an average. Good for comparing groups, bad for showing change over time.
Example
One bar per item showing how often each was chosen in a preference assessment.
Not bar graph
Daily data connected by lines across phases. That is a line graph.
