Percentage
Also called: percent correct, percent of opportunities, percent of intervals
Definition
A ratio of part to whole multiplied by 100 — correct responses over opportunities, or intervals with behavior over intervals observed. It is easy to read but hides the number of opportunities: 100% of two trials and 100% of twenty trials look the same, so the denominator should always be reported alongside it.
In plain language
How much of the total, out of 100. Useful, but always ask "out of how many?"
Example
A learner answered 8 of 10 questions correctly: 80 percent.
Not percentage
Twelve hits in a one-hour session. That is a count, and dividing by time gives a rate, not a percentage.
