Performance Feedback
Also called: feedback, corrective feedback, positive feedback
Definition
Information given to a person about their performance, used to improve it. The forms with the best evidence are specific, delivered soon after the performance, combine what was done well with what to change and how, and are followed by a check that the change happened. Feedback is the core of behavioral supervision and a required activity in the supervision of technicians.
In plain language
Telling someone clearly what they did well and what to do differently, soon after, and checking later that it changed. The heart of good supervision.
Example
Right after a session, the supervisor says the prompts were on time, asks for a full three-second wait before the second prompt next time, and says they will watch for it on Thursday.
Not performance feedback
An annual review that says "good job overall." Too late and too vague to change anything specific.
