Permanent Product
Also called: product recording, outcome recording
Definition
Measuring a behavior by the lasting change it leaves in the environment rather than by observing the behavior itself — completed worksheets, a made bed, marks on a wall. It frees the observer from being present, but it is only valid when the product could not have been produced some other way.
In plain language
Measuring what a behavior left behind instead of watching it happen. A finished worksheet shows the work was done.
Example
Counting the number of items put away in the bin after a clean-up routine.
Not permanent product
Counting the number of times a learner raised a hand during a lesson. Nothing lasting is left to count afterward.
